Sterling Pendant, Repousse

Classes: Learning
Learning something new means diving in and trying it, or signing up for a class. I’ve taken six classes in repousse, a technique to create a raised design in a flat piece of silver, hammering from the back, then chase the front side to its final form.
The photo is of a pendant I made in a class by Valentin Yotkov, a Master Goldsmith from Bulgaria, now in the USA. It is a formal design, balanced, and raised quite high to give the depth shown. From Val I learned to make my own tools to get exactly the shape desired for my designs, and I’ve a set of his tools as well, a work of art in themselves.
That pendant is classic and formal and suits the well-known little black dress. Have you something classic, or classy? Let us know!
