I took a class to make this bracelet. The instructor said, “You are the first person to try the hinging option for the bracelet parts. Everyone else has used jump rings.”

Well, I already knew how to do the jump ring version. Her bracelet class taught us how to cut, decorate, and size the bracelet. Learning a new (hinging) technique was exciting! Why take the easier route?

How does sewing apply? Both silver and fabric require careful cutting. Quilting pattern seams will never meet nicely if the cut pieces are 1/16 inch off on one or more edges. Precision and craftsmanship will produce a lovely result, one to be proud of and one to wear with delight.

The soldering on the hinges was a delicate operation, since hinges need to be aligned so they can move. Though this is a learning piece, it also is properly hinged, just as my quilting pieces are improving steadily. I wear this bracelet proudly!
